Fencing

One thing I learned on Tuesday that I have always wanted to learn was fencing. I have started a boy's Bible Study on becomeing a Modern Day Knight, and one of our activities was learning sword fighting. It was awesome.

Hey, at the risk of being punched, I am posting again.

Something I just learned was from a book by Donald Miller titled "Searching for God knows what". There is a section where he talks about the Fall and Adam and Eve and Sin and God and an alien and all that stuff. The things he said really spoke to me today, about how if an alien came to earth, studied us, and then went back, the way he would describe us is that our entire existance is spent comparing ourselves to eachother.

He went on to explain is the reason we do that and why we don't run around naked is that we don't have the assuring relationship with God that man had before the fall, and assurance we can't get from other people.

So from now on I am rebuilding that relationship and running around naked. Naked in the sense that I won't rely on other people's opinions of me to shape who I am, but to realize that I am human like everyone else, and that at the end of my life, will I really care about who I am better than?

As hard as it is to live, I need to realize that the only things of worth are things God loves, and things that don't have worth are things God doesn't love. My value exists because God loves me, not because I wear the right clothes or have a minivan(or had one Gavin) or what other people think of me.
